If you like defense, the FCS has really been low scoring so far. If we were on the Vegas line, you could make a fortune betting the under in this league.

Week 10 games....... 11 out of 16 had a total score of 30 or under. 5 of those games were less than 20 total points.

My guess as to why that is happening is due to the overuse of the 43/46 defenses with 1 deep, 2 deep, and Man coverage along with a lot of blitzing, which is the "4.6 Method". When you scout your opponent for defense, you can break it down by secondary and LB settings. If you are not sure how to do that, PM me. Diversity in the defense play calling includes using different secondary coverages and LB coverages/blitzes.

If both teams are using 43 blitzes 30 or more times a game, thats not diversity, and the scores will continue to be "under".

I'd say as big or bigger is the 2 per personnel rule in which several personnel groups have no good plays to choose from which ends many drives.

That would be from the 5 and 4 wr personnel groups, all the other offense personnel groups would be used with the 2 TE formations not as much as the "main 4".

I have not experienced the 4 & 5 WR groups being a problem, in fact, Ive been surprised at how well they have performed. Here are my results so far that you can use for comparison...

5 WR 3 plays active, only 1 play used so far, Parallel Slants, 15 times for 3 yd avg.

1 TE 4 WR ..... 2 plays active, Spread Corner Post used 5 times for 3 yd avg. (will be adjusting that, increasing the offense setting for that personnel group, they are all even, sometimes you need to overcome the Ai coach to get plays called from personnel groups and formations not normally used.)

1 RB 4 WR .... rarely used outside of this league by anybody. had one good result out of 5 times used. The weakest so far of the 4 wr groups.

Keep in mind, that if we had everyone in the league getting a good spread of defensive calls, to include the lesser used 3 man zone, 4 man zone, 3 deep man, 4 deep man and Quarter defense, the results would differ and the offense would be more productive. However, we are not getting that, but are on the way. Next season will have the requirement for more spreading of the calls on defense. Using the 43/46 for over half of the defensive play calls is not fair vs an opponent who is not doing so. That is why scouting is now more important, both for your own gameplan and to make your opponent aware of non-compliance. Even after taking an extra day delay of the sim to allow more time for fixes, we still have at least one team using less than 10 plays on defense with all the calls being 43. The team owner is aware, has been notified, but has been unable to get on track so far, am hoping that will change by next game.

My stats after game 11:

005 2 plays -> 1. 20 calls 7 avg; 2. 15 c 11 avg
014 3 plays -> 1.18 c 2 avg; 2. 8 c 0.7 avg; 3. 3 c -6.6 avg <- #3 substituted
104 1 play -> 23 c 8.1 avg

Next season I try to find a better set for 014.

I have 2 plays in each 4 wr set. Both sets have a 3 yard average play and 1 yard average play as the top 2. 3-1-1 doesn't have a play that goes for 2 yards for me though.
