Congrats to the NDSU!

Congrats to all of the owners & teams, we did better than expected for play diversity in this first season. That was the most important thing to me. Defense was the key in the first season, now we need to see if we can increase the offense production for season 2. If we can do that, we will get both the balance and play diversity level that no other league in MFN has.

Please check the "Season 2 Plan" thread and post your thoughts, opinions, and any suggestions for next season. All the best and cheers! GdB

Congrats Bisons

well done by both teams

I think the playoffs also show the difficulty in trying to gameplan against specific teams
you cant just load up on plays that will work against your opponent as it can mess up your entire play count. It's a delicate balance as it is and tweaks during playoffs can reduce the goals or play distribution

That brings up a very important issue. Once we get it "dialed in", the play use, both offense and defense, we will have a model that all the teams will need to use and stick with. The only thing you will need to do game to game will be scout and adjust the Gameplan (Inside, Outside Runs, Short/Med/Long passes) and any changes to the roster.
When you scout a team, and see a serious difference in the play selection and use, it will be related to not having the settings as recommended. My preference is that you have two gameplans saved, one for compliance (teams that are getting the play variety) and teams that arent, that way you will not be at a disadvantage of any kind based on what the other team is doing or not doing. I would hope that when a team owner is notified or becomes aware of the problem, that they would correct it. Its not that hard, for defense its the secondary settings if you have all the LB coverages even (other than 2 + Blitz, which is only the GL defense). What we have seen with the secondary all even is still a lack of use of the "Bottom 5" coverages.
4 Deep Man only has 2 plays in my teams playbook, one is a Dime and the other a Quarter, I had both active.
4 Deep Zone has 9 plays, I had one active, 43 Normal (3 plays total), Nickel has 2, Dime/3, and Quarter/1. So... the 4deep zone has 9 plays to 2 for the 4deep man, which also has an effect on how many times a coverage is used.
3 Deep Zone has 13 plays total, I had one active.
3 Deep Man has 8 plays, I had one active.
2 Deep Zone has 9 plays, and I also had one active. I had 2 Corner Blitz plays active, and one Safety Blitz. That will give you a comparison, it will be important to figure out the secondary settings to increase the use of the "Bottom 5" without it having a real bad result for the defense, or over-correction. Where we are at now is not enough use.

NOW IS THE TIME TO CHECK YOUR PLAY USE, AND CHECK YOUR SETTINGS, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE GETTING LESS THAN 20 DIFFERENT PLAYS USED ON DEFENSE IN A GAME, AND LESS THAN 28 OFFENSIVE PLAYS.

Have "un stickied" this thred, as the 3rd FCS season begins. The number of posts in this thread is impressive by any standards, and is indicative of the enthusiasm for what this league is attempting to do with regard to play selection, play diversity, and realistic rosters. Thanks to all who have made this a very successful "attempt" so far, hopefully it will result in improved game development programming. cheers! GdB
